Omega Psi Phi to Host International Interfaith Prayer Call Sunday Night
Historic Call to Action For Healing and Active Accountability
Atlanta, GA (July 7, 2016) Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is a global organization that is firmly built on Christian principles and the international leadership is standing on the strength and direction of God to bring constructive remedy to the nightmare that has befallen African American men and boys across this nation. Brother Antonio F. Knox, Sr., 40th Grand Basileus and Brother Rev. Dr. Staccato Powell, Grand Chaplain of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., have announced on behalf of the Fraternity an emergency Call to Action of global intercession across religious genres, race, ethnic and cultural differences through powerful prayer and partnering with other faith-based organizations, the Divine Nine, and community organizations to hold those accountable for the detriment that so egregiously affects the lives of Black men and boys.

Rev. Dr. Powell stated, "We must rise to the occasion to intercede and partner with other faith-based organizations like the Black Methodist United to stem the tide of violence that is currently proliferating the national landscape." A powerful global leader of faith with decades of committed service, he referenced the blueprint for swift action from the bible and quoted this relevant scripture in 2 Chronicles 7:14 of the King James Version, " If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." The Fraternity has a stellar portfolio of social action and humanitarian initiatives that are directed to the well being of the global community including criminal justice reform, gun control, body cameras and Brother You're On My Mind. Brother Knox stated, "We are calling on everyone to join us across all races and religious beliefs in this Call to Action and our faith has led to the formation of a historic international Prayer Call that will be led by our Grand Chaplain on Sunday, July 10th at 9:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. EST. The dial in number is 712-432-3066, Code 621775."

With powerful eloquence Rev. Dr. Powell stated, "This recent state of violence is consistent with the cosmic conspiracy that stems back to Egypt with Moses and Jesus Christ; and now as then, we will prevail. Relenting is not an option and we call on all people of goodwill, the Divine Nine, Councils of National and International Churches to address this pandemic of systemic violence stemming from racial inequality and profiling in a sustained way from moral consciousness and conviction." He further articulated, "You can't legislate morality. Racism is America's original sin. We can no longer be evasive and we have to confront it head on because justice is biblical and we have to push the card as people of faith. We must be at the vanguard of this issue and we must now focus on how to save and deliver our sons through faith."

Omega Psi Phi is standing on the tenets of collective voices being raised to combat the ugliness that so frequently touches our community. We believe that there is unity in tireless strength and progressive commitment toward resolution. "Where two can touch and agree on earth, there is agreement in heaven. Let's bombard the throne room of glory so make plans to join us to pray for God's salvation to heal the land."

Since its humble beginnings on the Howard University campus, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity continues to be on the front line, leveraging its power, influence and more than 100 years of commitment to the uplift of our people and our communities.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and is the first international fraternal organization to be founded on the campus of a historically black college.
