Official Statement from The 40th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated
Hurricane Relief Fund to Help Assist Those Impacted Around the Nation

Giving Honor to God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As we work to assist the Brothers and communities in Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee we are praying and calling on others to pray with us for the Brothers and communities in the Caribbean Islands, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and North and South Carolina at this point. Only the Lord knows if these storms will continue up the coast or continue inland. At a time like this our Cardinal Principals are our guide and we must follow. We have a plan in place that has been utilized to get aid to Brothers that were initially impacted by Hurricane Harvey and we will use the same process to assist in getting aid to those impacted by Hurricane Irma. And like true Omega men, some of the Brothers impacted in the Houston area, passed their assistance to others that had a greater need! That is who we are! I thank each of you for the way you have stepped up to assist those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, special thanks to Brother DR, Kenny Terrell, the Ninth District Executive Council, Brother DR, Bryan White, the 5th District Executive Council, IHQ, Kenny Barnes, Grand Officers and other members of the Supreme Council, Life Membership and Omega Charities; all have stepped up and have been an integral part of helping in the initial phase.

As the storms continue, I am calling on the brotherhood to continue looking out for each other and the community. Perseverance and Uplift are ever so important as we must continue to work toward aiding those in need, using our resources and building partnerships to help in getting immediate assistance to those in need. The Supreme Council will come together to increase the initial amount of $125,000 approved for assistance and I ask you to continue with additional contributions to Omega Charities or Life Membership for Hurricane Relief.

Where opportunity presents itself, I am asking Brothers to work with the Red Cross. The Divine Nine has an MOU, to agree to assist in the areas in which they will be set up to provide care for those that have been impacted by either of the storms that have hit landfall or the islands. Please continue to use caution as safety is first. Brothers let's all work to make this day brighter because "We Are One!"

Fraternally,

Antonio F. Knox, Sr.
