Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. And Affiliates To Host Inaugural Woodson Young Jazz Festival
& CCY 100th Anniversary Commemorative Ride Benefiting Namesake National Park Sites.
Atlanta, GA (April 13, 2018) Always on the forefront of providing deliberate and impactful humanitarianism, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and its affiliates are set to host two historic events simultaneously that honor two iconic Men of Omega, Colonel Charles Young and Dr. Carter G. Woodson. The Woodson Young Jazz Festival is a two day event that will be held June 15-16, 2018 at the historic Fort Washington Park just outside Washington, DC in Prince George's County. The Colonel Charles Young 100th Anniversary Commemorative Ride is a two day ride that will be made by the Hawg Dawgs Motorcycle Club from Ohio to Washington, DC, June 15-16, 2018 to symbolically honor the horse ride taken by Colonel Young to Washington, DC to show his physical strength and ability to lead. The Hawg Dawgs are distinguished Men of Omega that are retired and active duty officers, police officers, government employees that are Senior Executive Service Civilians and entrepreneurs.

Omega Psi PhiThe Fraternity has been working diligently with the National Park Service to host these events that will directly benefit and support the upkeep of these National Park sites while also helping to preserve their great American legacy. Colonel Young is a West Point graduate and the first African American national park superintendent and Dr. Woodson is the Father of Black History and Founder of ASALH, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Antonio F. Knox, Sr., 40th Grand Basileus stated, "Omega continues to be a committed bridge builder of humanity. We are very proud of the tremendous and selfless legacy of these stellar trailblazers and Men of Omega and it is our honor and duty to help in the preservation of their contributions to our nation.
