Brother Don Beatty Makes History As Newly Elected Chief Justice of South Carolina Supreme Court
Only The 2nd African American To Hold this Position

Don Beatty(June 1, 2016, Atlanta, GA) In an overwhelming and unanimous election, Brother Judge Don Beatty of the Sixth District became the new Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. Lawmakers were so delighted with the selection that they gave him a thunderous and honorable standing ovation. Brother Beatty is the second African American to ever hold this prestigious position since the days of Reconstruction and his stellar career has prepared him for this historic milestone.

Knox, Sr., 40th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated Stated, "We congratulate Brother Judge Beatty on this historic election to the South Carolina Supreme Carolina Court. He has a profound heart for justice and he will serve the Great Constituents of that state very well. The Fraternity salutes his continued rise to service and impact."

Very honored to be elected, Brother Judge Beatty stated, 'South Carolina is moving in the right direction. I think this is proof that we are moving forward as a state." His rise to this position in the highest court started with his Election in 1995 to 2003 as a circuit court judge. He was elected to the Supreme Court of Appeals in 2007. He served as a member of the Spartanburg City Council and as vice chairman and chairman-elect of the Legislative Black Caucus.

Knox, Sr.. 40th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated will be honored as a recipient of the 2016 Community Trailblazer Award at the 2016 North Carolina Fatherhood Conference hosted by the Family Resource Center South Atlantic in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday, June 18, 2016. More than 600 fathers from across the state of North Carolina will convene at the Raleigh Convention Center to become empowered with resources and tools that will benefit them in their roles as parents and role models.

The Conference will feature dynamic workshops, a Men's Health and Wellness Pavilion and Resource Market, vendors, a Youth Summit and so much more.
