Brothers of Omega, I greet you in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
After decades of police abuse, social neglect and utter disregard for Black Lives in the most impoverished neighborhoods of Baltimore City, civil unrest erupted throughout the city in ways reminiscent of the riots which occurred in 1968 after the assassination of Martin Luther King. This turmoil saw many established businesses destroyed, including "mom and pop" stores which provided food and much needed supplies for the neighborhoods.
At my request and acquiesce of the 2nd District Representative, Milt Harrison, we are commissioning the establishment of the Omega Healing Baltimore Project (OHBP) to provide sustainable relief and healing in an impactful and coordinated manner to the families and residents of the riot torn neighborhoods of Baltimore City. OHBP will provide targeted resources to address neighborhood concerns and community needs arising from those recent events. The ultimate aim of OHBP is to be a relevant component of the healing process which has to occur in order for the city to recover.
Several areas are will be addressed through the effort including:
Provision of Food/Economic Development
Clean up and Restoration
Pharmaceuticals and other Supplies
Transportation to resources
Tax Deductible Donations: Make checks payable to Pi Omega Foundation, Inc., 2003 Presbury Street, Baltimore, MD 21217. Note: Please write Omega Healing Baltimore Project in the memo section of the check.
