Omega Psi Phi Fraternity to Host "UPLIFT & UNITY Summit; Forward As One" In Charlotte

Atlanta, GA (November 1, 2016) Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated will host the inaugural "UPLIFT & UNITY Summit; Forward As One," a community forum that is a Call to Action on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Charlotte Convention Center from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. This event is free to the public and an open invitation for everyone to attend. Antonio F. Knox, Sr., 40th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated will lead a dynamic slate of world renown panelists and experts to discuss critical community issues including the Black Lives Matter initiative in an effort to bring resolution and offer next steps to the senseless killings of African American males across the nation; the President's Criminal Justice Reform Legislation, economic disparity, race, discrimination, policing and the critical importance of getting people out to vote. Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney will render greetings and Representative Alma Adams will also bring greetings.

Panelists include Attorney Benjamin Crump who served as counsel for the family of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown; Thabiti Boone, White House Liaison; Bobby F. Kimbrough, Law Enforcement Expert and Author of Surviving The Stop; Byron Hurt, Emmy Nominated Filmmaker; Corine Mack, President of the Charlotte NAACP; Edmund Lewis, CEO of Minority Males for Education; Quentin Williams, Esq., CEO of Dedication to Community; Doug Harris, CEO of The Kaleidoscope Group; Harold Cogdell, Esq.,; Dr. Robert Scott and Astrid Chirinos, Chief Development Officer at the Latin American Economic Development Corporation.

Antonio Knox stated, "This Summit presents a great opportunity for people across the diversity of our community landscape to attend, bring their questions and engage the conversation with our panel of experts on the present day crises that are impacting and plaguing our nation. This is a continuation of the efforts of the Fraternity from the 80th Grand Conclave in Las Vegas and our session at the Congressional Black Caucus ALC in Washington, DC to lift measures toward positive life changing results forward. We look forward to a room filled with willing minds, dynamic exchange and the great opportunity of next steps toward healing the deep hurts and ills toward UPLIFT and UNITY across this great nation.
