Hank Johnson Reelected to 10th Term in the U.S. House of Representatives
Decatur, GA—Democratic Congressman Hank Johnson has secured reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives for Georgia’s 4th Congressional District, defeating Republican challenger Eugene Yu. Representing a majority-Black district that includes portions of DeKalb and Newton counties, as well as Rockdale County, Rep. Johnson will continue his dedicated service to the communities of suburban Atlanta.
Brother Hank Johnson’s reelection marks a decade of leadership in Congress, where he has earned recognition as one of the most effective lawmakers. A senior member of the House Judiciary and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees, Johnson has been a leading voice on court reform, civil liberties, and digital inclusion.
Reflecting on his reelection, Congressman Johnson stated:

Johnson’s leadership on the House Judiciary Committee has resulted in significant legislative achievements, including:
- The FAIR Act: Protecting consumers and workers from forced arbitration.
- Stop Militarizing Law Enforcement Act: A key component of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, aimed at demilitarizing local law enforcement.
- Judiciary Reform Proposals: Advocating for Supreme Court expansion, ethics, transparency, and term limits, as well as reforms to protect court employees from harassment.
As a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Johnson has worked tirelessly to secure federal funding for infrastructure improvements that benefit Georgia’s 4th District. His dedication to equitable digital access has empowered low-income and minority communities through broadband expansion and online rights advocacy.
Before entering Congress in 2006, Johnson practiced criminal defense law for 27 years and served 12 years as a magistrate judge in DeKalb County. His extensive experience as a local commissioner and legal expert has informed his commitment to justice, accountability, and community empowerment.
Congressman Johnson is married to DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, and together they are proud parents of two adult children.
