From Civil Rights to Civic Honor: Street Named for Bro. Whitfield Jenkins

Whitfield Jenkins (Nu Rho ’66) on the well-deserved street name designation in his honor. “Whitfield Jenkins Road” in Ocala, Florida, now commemorates a life devoted to civil rights, community leadership, and educational advancement. For over five decades, Bro. Jenkins has been a tireless advocate for voter empowerment, social equity, and human justice—leaving an indelible impact on Ocala, Marion County, and the entire state of Florida.
Bro. Jenkins’ extraordinary journey includes service as a beloved educator in the Marion County Public Schools, an adjunct professor of criminal justice at the College of Central Florida, and a dedicated officer within the Florida Department of Corrections. He also held leadership roles with the Ocala Housing Authority and the NAACP, both locally and statewide. Through his activism and vision, he has empowered countless individuals and inspired a new generation of servant-leaders. His humility, strength, and perseverance define the very essence of Omega.
Today, we celebrate not only the name on a sign, but the legacy it represents. Whitfield Jenkins Road is more than a designation—it is a pathway paved by decades of sacrifice, service, and love for the people. May every young person who walks that road know they are following the steps of a man who dared to uplift a community and transform a city. We honor you, Bro.
