Lifting as We Climb: Omega Psi Phi Honors Thanksgiving Through Service, Love, and Uplift

Across the nation, the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. demonstrated once again that service is not occasional work. It is a calling rooted in our Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, and shaped by the powerful reminder that Friendship is Essential to the Soul. This Thanksgiving season, Omega men moved with purpose as they fed families, strengthened communities, and offered hope to those facing difficult times.

In Eastern Prince William County, the Brothers of Pi Lambda Lambda (Pictured Above) continued their longstanding tradition of supporting St. Francis House by donating 50 turkeys to families facing food insecurity. Their commitment to consistency and care reflects the heart of Omega service. That same spirit coursed through the Pee Dee region as the Brothers of Chi Iota completed multiple days of community engagement by helping prepare thousands of meals with Created to Serve at Faith Chapel and by distributing Thanksgiving food boxes at Savannah Grove Baptist Church.

Partnerships flourished throughout the country. Transformation Community Church in Marion, South Carolina welcomed local Brothers of Omega Psi Phi to help serve a warm Thanksgiving Eve dinner to residents. In Lake Charles, Louisiana, Rho Chi provided their annual Thanksgiving Community Breakfast, offering nourishment and fellowship to neighbors. In Canton, Mississippi, Epsilon Kappa Kappa assembled and delivered full Thanksgiving meal boxes to families identified as being in need, while Nu Chi in East St. Louis collected canned goods for area shelters to help ensure families had food for the holiday.

The giving continued in New Jersey where Nu Nu collected large containers filled with Thanksgiving ingredients for local families. In Newport News, Virginia, Alpha Alpha distributed Thanksgiving baskets to more than 30 families, and in Alexandria, Psi Nu partnered with Carpenter’s Shelter to pack baskets for families throughout the city. In Prince George’s County, Gamma Pi collaborated with Friendship Charities to provide meals to residents of Trinity Terrace and Cheval Court Senior Homes.

Service stretched across Alabama as the Brothers of Alpha Tau supported a community Thanksgiving dinner hosted by local restaurants and entertainers, creating an atmosphere of joy and connection. In Easton, Maryland, Iota Alpha Alpha organized one of the largest efforts in the region by distributing 500 turkeys along with winter clothing to families most affected by economic stress. In the Washington, D.C. region, Lambda Gamma Gamma donated complete Thanksgiving meal baskets to families associated with Hopkins House’s Helen Day Preschool Academy.

Undergraduate and graduate Brothers alike stepped forward. At Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Gamma Mu distributed 600 turkeys along with meal kits that fed families across the area. On the South Side of Chicago, Rho Gamma Gamma provided 600 turkeys to ensure residents could enjoy a full holiday meal. In Lansing, Michigan, Sigma Upsilon partnered with Divine Nine organizations and local volunteers to distribute Thanksgiving supplies across the community.

One of the most heartfelt expressions of Uplift came from Wichita, Kansas where Gamma Upsilon delivered more than 1,500 pairs of socks and financial support to the Union Rescue Mission. Staff members shared how deeply the Brothers’ generosity touched the men at the mission and how the visit served as a reminder that compassion still has the power to restore dignity and hope.

In Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Delta Iota and the Northeastern Omega Foundation donated turkeys to Victory Praise and Worship Center where volunteers prepared meals for families to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day. The spirit of collaboration was also strong in Jackson, Mississippi as Beta Alpha carried out its annual community service project by serving meals at Stewpot, donating clothing and canned goods, and contributing financial support to help families overcome seasonal hardships.

Even in Roxbury, Boston, the Eta Phi Brothers supported their busiest food pantry of the year, ensuring no family in need was turned away during the holiday season. And in Marion, South Carolina, Omega men worked with Transformation Community Church to serve hot Thanksgiving Eve meals to community members seeking comfort and nourishment.

Across cities large and small, Omega men continued to honor the communities that shaped them. Through baskets, breakfasts, turkeys, clothing drives, warm meals, and heartfelt presence, they lived out the meaning of lifting as we climb. This Thanksgiving season, Omega Psi Phi did more than give back. Omega gave hope.

And tomorrow
Omega will remain a guiding light proving that when men of purpose unite legacies are built to endure.
