Bro. Stanley Redwine Honored with 2025 Dr. Lonnie R. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award
Bro. Stanley Redwine (ΓΗ ’80), a legendary figure in track and field and a devoted member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has been awarded the 2025 Dr. Lonnie R. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award by the Black Alumni Society of the University of Arkansas. This prestigious honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to athletics, leadership, and community service over a distinguished four-decade career.
Redwine, a 1985 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a B.S.B.A. in Administrative Management, has left an indelible mark both on and off the track. As head coach of Team USA’s Men’s Track and Field team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Redwine led the squad to one of its most successful Olympic campaigns in history. His coaching legacy also includes guiding the Kansas Jayhawks women’s track and field team to their first-ever NCAA national championship in 2013 and mentoring numerous Olympians, NCAA champions, and All-Americans throughout his tenure at the University of Kansas.
A five-time U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier and two-time Goodwill Games silver medalist, Redwine’s own athletic prowess was matched only by his coaching excellence. His commitment to excellence has earned him multiple accolades, including Big 12 Coach of the Year honors, NCAA Coach of the Year, and recognition as one of the most respected figures in American track and field.
In addition to his storied coaching career, Redwine has remained a steadfast role model and community leader. Through his mentorship, he has shaped not just elite athletes but future leaders, embodying the cardinal principles of Omega Psi Phi—Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift.
Accepting the Dr. Lonnie R. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award, Bro. Redwine reflected on his journey with humility and gratitude. “This honor means so much because it comes from my Arkansas family—a place that shaped who I am as an athlete, coach, and man,” he shared. “I’m committed to continuing the work of lifting up young people and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
Bro. Redwine’s dedication, leadership, and trailblazing career continue to inspire not only the next generation of athletes but also the broader community. His legacy stands as a testament to what is possible when talent is matched with vision and an unwavering commitment to service.
