FAMU’s Dakarai Williams Leaves a Lasting Legacy
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — When Bro. Dakarai Williams (’24 ΥΨ) crossed the stage at Florida A&M University’s Summer 2025 commencement, he carried more than a degree — he carried the spirit of a generation. The psychology major from Macon, Georgia, closed his chapter at FAMU as the 2024–2025 student body vice president and chair of the Homecoming Steering Committee, where his vision and voice helped redefine student leadership. Whether managing a $500,000 homecoming budget or launching initiatives to spotlight Black entrepreneurs, Williams championed connection, culture, and collaboration. Under his guidance, FAMU earned national recognition from Aspire TV as having the Best Homecoming Experience of 2024, a testament to his ability to merge creativity with purpose.
Williams’ legacy, however, extends far beyond the Hill. A proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., he represents the fourth generation in his family to wear the purple and gold — a bond he says strengthened his discipline, integrity, and resilience. His leadership opened doors to new opportunities, including a co-op with International Paper that sparked his pursuit of an MBA and a career in global business. “I didn’t want to just take up space — I wanted to build something that would last,” he said. And build he did — leaving behind a model of servant leadership that continues to inspire future Rattlers.
