Nashville, TN—State Representative Harold M. Love, Jr. has been reelected to serve Tennessee’s 58th District in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Love secured victory in the general election on November 5, 2024, continuing a legacy of dedicated leadership and advocacy for the people of Nashville.

First elected in 2012, Bro. Harold Love, Jr. has been a tireless advocate for education, community development, and social justice. Serving on key House Committees—including Education Administration, Local Government, Finance Ways and Means, Higher Education Subcommittee, and Finance Ways and Means Subcommittee—he has played a pivotal role in advancing legislation that uplifts underserved communities and strengthens public institutions.

Reflecting on his reelection, Rep. Love said:
“I am deeply honored to continue serving the vibrant and resilient communities of District 58. Together, we have achieved meaningful progress, but our work is far from over. I remain committed to advocating for equitable education, economic empowerment, and policies that reflect our shared values of justice and opportunity for all.”

Rep. Love’s roots in public service run deep. Born and raised in Nashville, Love is the son of the late Rep. Harold M. Love, Sr. and Mary Y. Love. After graduating with honors from Whites Creek High School, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Tennessee State University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University Divinity School.

Beyond his legislative work, Rep. Love is a devoted pastor and community leader. Ordained by the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in 1999, he has served as pastor of Hopewell AME Church in Columbia, St. Paul AME Church in Nashville, and currently, Lee Chapel AME Church. His leadership extends to roles as the former Presiding Elder of the South Nashville District of the AME Church and as a board member for organizations such as the 18th Avenue Family Enrichment Center and the Dr. N. Joyce Payne Center for Social Justice.

Rep. Love is also an active member of several esteemed organizations, including Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the Tennessee Advisory Council on Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Tennessee Second Look Commission. A 33° Mason and Shriner, his commitment to service is evident in every facet of his life.

Love’s reelection reaffirms his constituents’ trust in his ability to champion their needs and priorities. As he embarks on his next term, Rep. Love is focused on addressing critical issues such as education reform, economic development, and criminal justice policies that promote fairness and equity.

Rep. Love resides in North Nashville with his wife, Leah Dupree, an attorney and Government Affairs Officer at Tennessee State University. Together, they continue to serve as pillars of leadership and advocacy in their community.
