Brother Joe L. Anderson, LTC, US Army (Ret), a member of Pi Phi Chapter, has been installed as President Charlotte-Metrolina Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)
MOAA is the nation’s largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization, with more than 350,000 members from every branch of service – including active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired, former officers, and their families. MOAA is a powerful force speaking for a strong national defense and representing the interests of military officers at every stage of their careers.
Brother Anderson grew up in Charlotte and was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools, graduating from West Charlotte High School in 1966. Joe received a BS degree in Economics from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C. where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate from A&T’s Senior ROTC program. He was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at Mu Psi Chapter in 1967 while a student at A&T. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army in 1970 and served on active duty from 1971-73, during the Vietnam Era. After leaving active duty, he continued in the Army Reserves, serving in several different assignments in Maryland, New Jersey, California and New York until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996.
Brother Anderson was employed by Eastman Kodak Company for 32 years, serving in several different positions in Washington, DC, New Jersey, California and at the company’s Headquarter in Rochester, N.Y. until retiring as Senior Human Resources Manager. While at Kodak, he also served as President of the Veterans Network of Kodak Employees (VETNET), a network of 5000 veterans who were employed by Kodak.
He was the Founding President of the Rochester, NY Chapter, N.C. A&T State University Alumni Association. He is a past recipient of the university’s Distinguished Service Award and previously served on the Board of Visitors of NC A&T State University.
Joe is a member of Pi Phi Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; Queen City Chapter, NC A&T State University Alumni Association; and American Legion Post 523 in Harrisburg, NC. Bro. Anderson was the 2020 Veterans Day speaker for Pi Phi Chapter’s Veteran’s Day Program.
