Rho Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Establishes Scholarship Endowment at Austin Peay State University
Clarksville, TN—The Rho Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has demonstrated its enduring commitment to education and service by converting the Rho Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Scholarship into a permanent endowment at Austin Peay State University (APSU). This generous gift ensures ongoing support for students striving to achieve academic success and personal growth.
“The greatest legacy to leave behind is one of helping others, and we thank the brothers of the Rho Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi for making that their legacy,” said APSU Vice President for Alumni, Engagement, and Philanthropy Kris Phillips.
The scholarship is designed for sophomore students who maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA in any major. Eligible recipients must demonstrate cultural diversity and belong to an underserved population, with preference given to African American students.
Omega Psi Phi alumni member LaVar Jamison highlighted the alignment of the scholarship with the fraternity’s mission:
“This scholarship embodies Omega Psi Phi’s commitment to empowering students to achieve academic success and become leaders in their communities. Whether in work, school, church, or home, we are thrilled to support Austin Peay students in their educational endeavors.”
This endowment underscores the fraternity’s dedication to its second Cardinal Principle, Scholarship, and strengthens its ties to Austin Peay State University.
“APSU has given so much to so many and helped us develop lives that would not have been possible without the friendships and education we received,” said Jamison. “This endowment allows us to leave a legacy that ensures future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the same enriching experiences we had.”
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University, is the first international fraternal organization established on the campus of a historically Black college. Its Cardinal Principles—Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift—continue to guide its mission to foster leadership, academic excellence, and community service.
The Rho Kappa Chapter’s contribution represents not only their dedication to APSU but also their commitment to creating pathways for students from underserved communities. Through this endowment, the fraternity ensures that its guiding principle of Scholarship remains a bridge for future leaders.
Endowments at APSU are managed by the Austin Peay State University Foundation, with scholarship awards determined based on the value of the fund and the Foundation’s spending plan.
This act of generosity exemplifies the Rho Kappa Chapter’s belief in building bridges to opportunity and success for future generations.
